Immediately after the accident the child was taken to hospital where the wound was cleaned and stitched under local anesthetic. The wound was 4cm long and a few millimetres deep, the child had to attend his local doctors for the wound to be re-dressed. The wound was painful when knocked though healed in two months.

The accident left a scar of which the child was concerned about the appearance.

The child did not attended school for two weeks and had disturbed sleep.
