A child who was injured in supermarket receives compensation

Child suffers facial injury as well as clinical anxiety

A young boy aged three was injured in a supermarket when a shop display fell on him. The shop display was hanging from the ceiling when it fell from and hit the child on the right side of his face.

He made a claim for compensation after he suffered from facial swelling, gracing and more significantly situational anxiety. He was treated in A+E on the day for the facial injuries sustained in the accident, but the more significant injuries developed over a long period of time.

Fortunately the laceration to his face did not leave any visible scarring to his face and therefore there was no claim for ongoing cosmetic injuries. However the client was seen by an expert clinical psychologist whose report stated the child had suffered from situational anxiety relating to the shop premises and that clinically significant symptoms lasted for four months.

The child received £1,750 compensation.
